Health Tourism is the way forward

KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau is optimistic that the Health Industry, especially private hospital through their Health Tourism services can indirectly assist in enhancing bilateral relation with countries whose citizens comes to Sabah for its health services.

Tangau said this after receiving a courtesy call paid by delegation comprising senior officers from KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital at his office here Wednesday.

He also expressed interest in the Mobile Wakaf Clinic operated by KPJ Sabah which is believed to the first in Sabah by a private Hospital.

He suggested to the KPJ Sabah Officers to run this programme in collaboration with his MP Service Centre in Tuaran.

“KPJ is premier hospital in Sabah with a very fine facilities and I think that’s is the reason why they are able to attract medical tourists from China and from other parts of Asia, and I think more need to be done to promote their services so that more medical tourists from these countries will become KPJ’s repeat clients.

“And I think it is also important for Malaysians in Sabah to know more about the services their facilities are offering because it is very modern and they are also promoting some of their social programs in many ways of which I am sure we in the Ministry of Trade and Industry can cooperate in many ways.”

Another programme proposed by KPJ Sabah was the Corporate Wellness or in short CoWell Programme.

This program is designed for the corporate sectors where interactive health talks and free health screening will be conducted.

In this respect, Tangau urged those in the corporate sectors, both government and private, to take advantage of the programme.

The delegation from the KPJ Sabah was led by CEO, Miranda Harumal @ Nur Syahirah Abdullah, Public Relation Executive & Service Quality Coach, Paul Matthew, Noshatilla Ezanie Abu Bakar, and Jeffrey Stephen, both in the Marketing Department.-SabahNewsToday
