Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, 18 August 2014 – In conjunction with Raya celebration, KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital staff members recently organised a visit to a local shelter home for the unfortunate children in Ranau to celebrate and share the joy of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Rumah Putera Harapan was founded by the Islamic NGOs and was opened on 12 July 2008 to provide shelter and proper education for the children who grow up without their parent(s), victims of divorce and poverty. The home that accommodates some residents ranging from age 9 to 14 years old children was treated with lots of fun-filled activities the whole afternoon with delicious Raya buffet, educational games with prizes and distribution of duit Raya to the children there. The visit was led by the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Azhar Abdullah and Finance Manager, Faizal Mohamed along with 16 staff members of KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital. The hospital and staff members contributions in the form of basic food items such as rice, noodles, milk, milo, cooking oil and others, and also school supplies to accommodate the children’s needs for their educational purpose was handed over to the Home’s Caretaker, Ustaz Mohd Sabri Abdullah. This effort is part of the hospital’s CSR commitment and initiative with the hope of bringing some happiness to the children while creating the awareness on social needs and the importance of connecting and giving back to the community around us.
